I don't know where I'm going. (But you know where you are.) [Feb. 1st, 2009|12:23 pm]
Last night Andrew and I saw Revolutionary Road. This was a risky choice as our first movie seen together, being that it was about a failed romance, but what are we if not a little risky? Temping fate, as he called it. It was a film about an intelligent suburban couple who want to transcend their normal, everyday lives and move to Paris to pursue a more fulfilling life. I mean, really. If that isn't our idealized life story, I dunno what is. We sort of went into it with a playful attitude (our approach to everything) and spent most of the movie laughing out loud or sighing at the sheer combined beauty of Kate & Leo. At one point I got really disturbed and started shaking. So it left us with quite a weird after-feeling.

However, before we were faced with inevitable existential questions posed by Sam Mendes, we were running around Jersey Gardens trying not to get shot. He tried to throw a couple coins down my shirt (a fun game everyone plays whenever I am wearing something mildly low-cut) and I protested genially and then this happened:

Me: Hey! You bastard!
Him: What if you get shot at later on when we're leaving, and the coin blocks the bullet? What then, huh? You'll never give me shit for putting things down your throat ever---Wait, WHAT? WOW. WOWWW.

And then I completely lost it and collapsed on the red carpeted floor, thinking about how I couldn't be pure-minded and dainty even if I tried. I'm glad I don't have to be.

I also saw the Little Mermaid this weekend with my family. It was adorable. Beautifully done, lots of fun. My mom and aunts were sort of annoying, yelling at Kelsey and Anna and me for walking when the little white walk light wasn't on and for generally being good city walkers. Goddamnit I hate looking like a tourist, maybe more than anything.

I now have to catch up on two weeks' worth of schoolwork I neglected in favor of spooning. Good god I love my life.
